Japan’s emperor celebrates 20 years on the throne

There is an Imperial system in Japan. And Nov.12, 2009 , thousands of Japanese congratulated Emperor Akihito on the 20th anniversary of his accession to the throne.

At an official ceremony held in Tokyo’s National Theatre. And Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama passed on his government’s congratulations.

Emperor Akihito is the first Japanese emperor not to be considered divine.

Sake (Japanese rice wine) comes in many varieties and is well-loved among the elderly, especially when drunk before eating Japanese food.

Japanese sake is divided into Ginjo-shu (sake made from highly milled rice and with or without alcohol), Junmai-shu (pure sake), Junmaiginjo-shu, Hon-Jozo-shu, Gen-shu and Nama-zake (sake that has not been pasteurized).

Japan is known to be the country with long living people.

Actually, my grandmother became 100 years old. I'm very lucky to celebrate her birthday.

But that doesn't necessarily mean everyone is treated equally in death.

While some are lucky enough to die of old age, others are killed in wars or die from starvation.

Death is hardly fair.

I hope everybody in the all over the world can enjoy thier life!

Paper folding "Origami" is one of Japanese unique traditional arts. It is the art of folding a sheet of paper into various figures such as crane, any kind of animals and many other things. National holiday in Japan

September 21,2009 is "Respect-for-the-Aged Day" in Japan. It is a national holiday for showing respect and affection for the elderly who have devoted themselves to the society for so many years, and for celebrating their long life. It was established in 1951.

This holiday is likely to become increasingly significant in the future as Japanese society is graying at a rapid pace.

Results of election in Japan

Last Sunday’s general election in Japan delivered a landslide victory for the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) and an unprecedented defeat for the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), which has ruled the country almost continuously for 50 years.

The DPJ won 308 lower house seats to the LDP’s 119.
The DPJ was voted in on the hopes of millions of people who were abandoned by the previous government. Many hope the new government will deliver free education and support for unemployed workers.

The landslide reflects the impact of the world capitalist crisis on Japan – GDP has shrunk at an annual rate of 14.2 percent. Recent reports have suggested a small recovery in the Japanese economy but exports, vital to the Japanese economy, are around 35 percent lower than last year and unemployment remains the highest it has ever been.

Still continue the difficult economical situation in Japan.

SUMMER TRADITION - FIREWORKS

Fireworks add a sort of poetic charm to the summer season, and from July to August, fireworks displays are held in many areas.

Spectacular fireworks adorn the night sky.

When fireworks are sent up, it's a nice custom to call out the name of the fireworks firm that created that particular firework.

It's a really good traditional event in summer!!!
