After the year-end cleaning is finished, Japanese people prepare special dishes, "OSETI-RYORI" to get ready for the New Year.
Osechi-ryori are specially prepared New Year's dishes to be eaten during the first three days of January.
Also we have rice-cake soup, "ZONI" on New Year's Day. Each area also has its own zoni.
