HP Envy 14 Spectre

Cracking ... new HP laptop has glass lid

Remember when laptops were metal and plastic?

Those days are over if HP gets its way – the Envy 14 Spectre's top panel is a solid slice of glass with the silica theme continuing on the ultrabook's wrist rest.

Elsewhere, there's a more traditional build, meaning you can still crank up the Beats Audio-enhanced tunes with a machined aluminium volume rocker. Mmm, jazz.

Design and build quality

With ultrabooks coming at us left, right and centre, it's all too easy to see them as one big grey blur of slim chassis and Intel processors. HP evidently hates nothing more than to be lost in the crowd, so it's gone to great lengths to make sure the Spectre sticks out.

Instead of a muted grey colour, a huge slab of black glass covers the entire lid. It's an extremely bold statement and one that we're quite keen on. It's encouraging to see companies appreciating that we don't all want to carry around identical-looking laptops.

Tree-climbing goats, Morocco

This rather bizarre sight is actually a fairly common one in Morocco. Living in sparse conditions, the goats climb Argan trees in search of food.

They've developed quite a knack for it too, moving across some pretty narrow branches with impressive ease for a hoofed creature!

Ackee plant is originated from West Africa. Later, it was introduced to Florida, USA.
Ackee fruit is widely used in Jamaican cuisine, which includes its national delicacy,
"ackee and saltfish".

The fruit looks like a pear, red in color when it's ripe. The ackee fruit must be picked after it has naturally opened and revealed the seeds. The fruit must be eaten at the right time. The fruit is poisonous if it is both immature and overripe. The fleshy part around the seeds is the only part which is edible. The rest of the fruit contain a type of toxin called hypoglycin which can be fatal if consumed.
