March 3 was a "Girls' Day" in Japan. We call it "Hinamatsuri". "Hina" means dolls. "Matsuri" means festival.
On this day, families with girls wish their daughters a successful and happy life. There's a tradition in Japan of displaying special dolls for Hina Matsuri on a tiered stand.
