Don’t hesitate to try local cuisines and if you have the chance visit the Grand Sumo Wrestling, they are held in January, May and September each year for 15 days from the 2nd till the 4th Sunday of the month. If you want to get in the inner Imperial palace, you can do so only on 2 dates in the year: 23rd of December (The emperor’s birthday) and the 2nd of January (Japanese New Year). A great side trip from Tokyo is the city of Nikko which is located about 2 hours away from Tokyo. There you can find the mausoleum of the shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu (Nikkō Tōshō-gū), but if you wish to take a walk in the Nikko national park (one of the most beautiful parks in Japan) you should probably spend an extra day there.
Osaka is a city located in the central part of the main island of Japan – Honshū. A definite must-see is the Osaka Aquarium, which is open from 10am to 8pm daily. Walking through the amazing habitats created there you will definitely get that underwater feeling. Reachable by bus, car, subway or a liner a trip to this aquarium will be something you will never forget. Visiting Osaka you can spend a great day in the Universal studios Theme park or if you were wondering where you can just walk around and immerse yourself in the local culture visit the Dotonbori Neighborhood. The area is filled with restaurants, nightclubs and theaters. Dotonbori is the perfect place to get to know the food life in Osaka. This area has a lot of neon-lit alleys and offers a incredible number of attractions. You can also go to the Grand Sumo Tournament held every year in early March.
