Tip 1: Close error report
When there is something wrong with applications, the system will pop up error report windows automatically. In fact, this error report is not meaningful at all for common computer users so it is recommended to close error report. To fulfill this, you can follow these steps:
Click start -> click Run -> type gpedit.msc into the dialog box -> click Computer Configuration -> select Administrative Templates -> select System -> select Error Reporting -> double-click Configuration Error Reporting -> select Disable.
Tip 2: cancel Pop Delay
Cancelling Pop delay will speed up your PC to a certain extent and the steps are the following:
Open registry editor -> change the key value of “MenuShowDelay” under “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop” from 400 to 0 -> press F5 key to refresh your computer.
Tip 3: clean up prefetch files
System’s read-set helps speeding up the system but after running a long time, files in prefetch folder will accumulate a lot and cost the system a longer time to search at startup. Some applications even create files of dead link in prefetch folder which will add the burden to computer; therefore, cleaning up all files in prefetch folder regularly under Windows system folder is necessary.
Tip 4: close autoplay function
Whenever we insert a CD or USB Mobile Hard Disk into the computer, the system will scan the CD or USB Mobile Hard Disk once and prompt you whether you want to play files in them. If it is a large-sized CD or USB Mobile Hard Disk, the system will cost you a lot time to scan all files. In such a case, we can close auto play function by operating the below steps:
Click start -> click Run -> type gpedit.msc into the dialog box -> click Computer Configuration -> select Administrative Templates -> select System -> double-click Turn off autoplay -> select Enable -> select All drives in the drop-down list.
