Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, is one of the most beautiful countries in the South East Asia. Starting from dense forests to a rich cultural heritage, Myanmar certainly has plenty to explore.
To top it all, the friendly people of Myanmar are always ready to welcome you with a smile. So, if you want to see some natural marvels along with pagodas and experience a country that is really miles apart from the occident, Myanmar is the place to visit.
The culture of Myanmar is a beautiful amalgamation of Indian and Chinese cultures. Several other countries have contributed in making this rich heritage as well. Throughout Myanmar, you can see different Buddhist stupas. They have a striking resemblance with the stupas found in the Northern India.
Like many countries in the East, spirituality plays a very significant part in Myanmar. You will find temples even in the remotest villages. The major religion in this country is Theravada Buddhism which is dominant in neighboring country Thailand. You will also find Hinduism, Islam and Christianity. Diversity in terms of ethnicity can also be noticed.
Basically, Myanmar has three seasons – hot, rainy and cool. The winter in Myanmar stays from November till February. During this season, the temperature hovers from 34 degrees Celsius in noon to 19 degrees at night. In Mandalay, the temperature falls to 13 degrees as well. You can expect less temperature in the highlands like Pyin U Lwin and Inle Lake. Naturally, winter is the ideal time for Myanmar travel.
