Hakuba is located around 300kms northwest of Tokyo, in the heart of theJapanese Northern Alps. Hakuba is part of the Nagano prefecture of Japan, which, if you can remember that far back, played host to the 1998 Winter Olympic Games.Hakuba hosted the ski jumping event (the stadium still stands) as well as the super G and some downhill skiing. The Olympics left a good infrastructure in the area, making it easy to go on day trips to other areas. They also left a thriving après ski scene in Hakuba, where there is no shortage of international restaurants, bars, and traditional Japanese onsens (natural hot springs).
