Samsung Series 9 hands-on

Samsung unveiled a brand new, super-thin notebook at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show. Calling the 9 Series, the new device is being marketed as a durable, “ultra premium” and lightweight device. It’s a remarkably thin device, that Samsung says is actually thinner than Apple’s MacBook Air. Featuring a 13.3-inch display, the 9 Series is certainly one of the most attractive notebooks out there.

Samsung claims that the new 9 Series weighs less than 3 pounds, and it measures in at only 0.64-inches. It’s also constructed from Duralumin. The 13.3-inch display is LED-backlit, with a contrast ratio of 100,000:1 and a resolution of 1366 x 768. Inside, you’ll find an Intel Core i5 processor, second-generation, clocked at 1.40GHz. Microsoft’s Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit is installed.
There’s 4GB of DDR3 memory, and integrated 802.11b/g/n WiFi. For the graphics, Intel’s HD GT2 Integrated Graphics will be used. It will launch in February, 2011, and cost around $1,599

Zanzibar Food & Drink

Zanzibar Town and its old quarter, Stone Town, onUjumba island has a number of good restaurants that cater specifically for tourists with local dishes, seafood and curries all up for tasting.
There are some small eating places in town that cater for locals and make for a fun and cheap culinary adventure, although the menu is usually nothing more than a choice between two dishes.
As with most African countries, the markets are where all the action is. Zanzibar Island's markets are packed with fresh fruits, exotic spices and fish still dripping with seawater.
A stroll through a market is an essential experience for any travellers to the island. It's a great way to interact with locals, and get a real taste of the culinary culture.
Exotic spices are used in many local dishes and have contributed to Zanzibar's economy for centuries. Take aSpice Tour to learn more about this important element of the "Spice Island."
Outside of Zanzibar Town there are few places to eat. Locals of nearby villages and towns tend to eat at home and the lack of tourists to these parts of the island means there is, as yet, no market for cafes, bars and restaurants. You will, however, find restaurants at the resorts dotted around the island.
On Pemba Island there are a few restaurants in the two major towns of Chake Chake and Wete.
A visit to any foreign land should be coupled with an enquiring mind and adventurous palate. In Zanzibar there are a few local Tanzanian beers you should try, namely Safari, Kilimanjaro and Tusker. There's also a variety of brightly coloured Tanzanian soft drinks you might want to taste. In larger restaurants and hotels in Zanzibar, visitors can order imported beers and beverages.

Types of Cheeses

Types of Cheeses
stilton cheese

Cheese is a result of the whey and coagulationbeing separated from milk. It was originally used to keep all of the nutrients found in milk after the milk had gone bad, but now it has turned into a sort of art form. Cheese is made from milk from cows, sheep, and goats. The texture and flavor of the cheese is highly dependent upon the aging process as well as the milk source, and some cheeses use a mix of two or more sources. In addition, the country in which the cheese is made has a great affect on what the cheese will turn out like due to the differing cheese-making processes. Since there are so many different varieties of cheeses, they each have a recommended usage and pairings. For example, semi-hard cheeses like Gouda pair wonderfully with crackers and fruits.
There are six branches of cheese, with hundreds of varieties falling under these branches: fresh, semi-soft, soft, natural rind, hard, and bleu.

Fresh

These cheeses are uncooked and unripened, as well as mild and very moist with a soft texture. Some examples of fresh cheeses include: feta, ricotta, cream cheese, and cottage cheese.

Semi-Soft

Semi-soft cheeses have a very buttery and smooth taste and are mild and moist. Examples include: fontina, gorgonzola, and Gouda.

Soft

These cheeses are event softer than fresh cheeses and are known for theircreamy texture and ability to be spread easily. Boursin, brie, and bel paese are three examples of soft cheese.

Natural Rind

Natural rind cheeses have a rind that naturally form as the cheese comes in contact with air during the aging process.  Their texture is dense and they are usually aged for a longer period of time. Stilton and Tomme de Savoie are two of the varieties.

Hard

Hard cheeses are aged for a very long time and are the driest variety. They normally have a very strong flavor and are mostly consumed in a grated form to add to the flavor of several dishes. Asiago, parmigiano-reggiano, and pecorino romano are the most common types of hard cheeses.

Bleu (blue)

Bleu cheeses are known for their moldy appearances. This is because they are injected with a specific strand of mold called penicillium roqueforti or penicillium glaucum. They have a very distinctive taste and smell, and people who like this type of cheese often have an acquired taste for it. St. Agur and Big Woods Blue are two types of this moldy cheese.

ALL ABOUT CARS!

The Best Luxury Car!

Simply Inspiring -Humans understand luxury. Sometimes it’s measurable: the thread count of Egyptian cotton, the legroom on a plane, the brilliance of a diamond. More often than not, luxury is just a feeling, an indefinable something that can turn the humdrum into the historic.
In an automotive context, luxury is just as easily understood, though not so easily created. Simple fitness for purpose is not enough. A special experience must always be delivered.
In a Lexus LS context, automotive luxury has been raised to a more rarefied state. It now represents a rolling distillation of a passionate,
20-year dedication to quality—a dedication as uncompromising in its standards as it is exacting to execute.
Achieving mobile luxury is a very difficult balance to strike—there will always be conflict between the expectations of passengers, the requirements of engineers, and the laws of physics—but Lexus firmly believes that physical comfort must be a non-negotiable component of any luxury car. The soft leather LS cabin is both visceral testimony to this unwavering Lexus belief and an effortlessly stylish visual cloak for a host of carefully worked under-the-skin improvements.

How to Check If a Power Supply is Dead

My Computer Won’t Turn On… Is My Power Supply Faulty?

Troubleshooting a Bad Power Supply is pretty straight forward. Since the Power Supply is self contained issues with the PSU are not usually the result of a configuration issue.
There are several you can check though before deciding the power supply is faulty. The first and foremost method is to use a power supply tester to check for a faulty PSU. Unfortunately not people own one until they need one, so there are some manual troubleshooting steps you can perform to check for a bad power supply.

How To Troubleshoot a Bad or Faulty Power Supply (PSU)

  • WARNING: Power Supplies contain internal components that can store an electrical charge. Never attempt to repair the internal components of a Power Supply as you risk personal injury and also void the warranty on the PSU.

01. Check that the AC Power Cable is Connected Firmly to the Wall Outlet and PSU.
The PSU can commonly be stiff when connecting the AC power cable so make sure the cable and power supply are making good contact with one another.
02. Check the AC Outlet that the Power Supply is Plugged Into.
If it is a wall outlet, ask yourself if it is controlled by a wall switch. If so is the switch turned on?
If you are using a power strip or surge protector check to make sure the power switch is set to “On”. There will usually be a little red light that indicates this on a decent power strip or surge protector.
03. Check the On/Off switch on the Power Supply itself.
Most new power supplies all have an On/Off switch. This is a little black switch on the back of the power supply that has a one and a zero on it. (It may look like an I / O on the switch).
Make sure this switch is set to “On”. If the switch is set to one (1) this indicates that the power supply is turned “On”. If it is set to zero (0) it means the PSU is currently switched off. Make sure the switch is set to the one (1) position.
04. Check the Voltage Switch on the Power Supply.
On most new Power Supplies there is a red switch on the back that indicates voltage. This can be set to either 115V or 230V.
In the USA all our households use 115V from the wall AC outlets for standard appliances. If you are in the US make sure your Power Supply is set to 115V. If you are from Europe I believe your PSU needs to be set to 230V.
05. Check the 20/24 Pin ATX Power Connector and 4 Pin ATX Power Connector
Most motherboards require that you connect two Power Leads from a Power Supply to power your motherboard.
The main power lead is the 20/24 Pin ATX power connection which plugs in near the memory slots on your motherboard. The secondary power lead that is required is the 4 pin ATX power connection.
Make sure both of these leads are plugged in securely to your motherboard. You should feel a small click when they are properly inserted.
It is not uncommon for a lead to feel stiff and not go in all the way. To ensure that the ATX power leads are firmly connected disconnect each on and reconnect them to the motherboard.
06. Use Observations on the Power Supply to Determine if it’s Faulty.
  1. If your motherboard has a power LED on it, is this light turned on. (The motherboard power LED will normally glow even when the system is powered down.) If it is glowing this confirms the board is receiving power from the PSU and the problem may lie elsewhere.
  2. Can you see or hear the fan inside the power supply spin when you try to power on the system. If you do not see or hear it spinning this can be a sign of a bad power supply.
  3. Did the power supply make any crackling or popping noises when you tried to start the system? If so, this is a sign that a component inside the power supply has failed.
  4. Did you see a spark or smoke come out of the power supply? If so this is another sign that a component inside the Power Supply has failed.
  5. Does the power supply smell like burning electrical components. If so this is another sign of component failure inside the power supply.
07. Use Another Power Supply for Testing
If you have performed all of the above steps and have still not been able to determine if your issues are a result of a bad power supply use an extra power supply (if applicable) or a PSU from another system and try to start your system with the secondary Power Supply.
If it powers on with the other power supply you have determined your original Power Supply is bad or faulty.

Troubleshooting a Bad Power Supply Summary

If you have determined your Power Supply is bad you have two main options.
  1. If your power supply is under warranty send it into the retailer or manufacturer for RMA replacement.
  2. If your power supply is outside of the warranty period you will need to purchase a new power supply.
