KIYOMIZU TEMPLE

 Kiyomizu Temple (Kiyomizu-dera, 清水寺), officially known as Otowa-san Kiyomizu-dera is an independent Buddhist temple located in easternKyoto.

The temple is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Founded in the early Heian period, the temple's original contructions date back to 798, with its present buildings constructed in 1633 during a restoration ordered by Iemitsu Tokugawa. The temple takes its name from the waterfall within the complex, which runs off the nearby hills. Kiyomizu means clear water, or pure water.
