MOST MEMORABLE MOVIE LOCATIONS

Most Memorable Movie Locations
Every movie has some sort of famous location that you tend to recognize because every action in the movie is in that region. It can be a building, a park or just a room.
Some times you won’t even pay attention to the places in the movie, especially if it’s a fast action. Still we have picked out 10 movies where you surely will recognize the location immediately.

10. Die Hard – Nakatomi Plaza. Almost the whole movie was filmed between 29th and 35th floor of the Nakatomi Plaza in Beverly Hills, LA, where the terrorists took control over the building, and the hostages in it, while making their demands, and Bruce Willis as a New York cop gets caught up, and tries to save the poor victims.

9.Big Lebowski – Sobchak Security. Jeff Bridges as unemployed Jeffery Lebowski gets mistaken for the millionaire Jeffery Lebowski, and the plot gets complicated when the millionaire’s wife gets kidnapped. 8. Groundhog Day – Cherry Street Inn. The weatherman Phil finds himself living the same day over and over again. The Cherry Street B&B is the place where Bill Murray as Phil starts his every day. The original B&B is located in Woodstock, Illinois, but in the movie it’s in Pennsylvania. The interior of the house looks nothing like the one in the movie, because they were shooting on a sound stage.

7. Home Alone – Family House. I bet that not one single person wouldn’t know from what movie this house is. The house is situated outside of Chicago, and the interior changed a bit from the first to the second movie. Some parts of the movie was filmed on set at a high school gym, but Culkin himself said that they still did a lot of shooting at the house.

6. Casino Royale – Hotel SplendideJames Bond must stop a banker to the world’s terrorist organizations from winning a high-stakes poker tournament at Casino Royale. The movie location is set in Montenegro, but the hotel is neither Splendide nor is it in Montenegro. It’s actually Hotel Pupp in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. In the movie you can see the huge hotel when James Bond and Vesper Lynd arrive by taxi.

5. Lord Of The Rings – Hobbiton. The Hobbiton movie set is located near Matamata in the North Island of New Zealand. The place is actually a sheep farm location, so today sheep tend to go freely around the hobbit houses. Bilbo’s house are not one of the simple houses on the location, because it was filmed at a studio. After the filming the Hobbiton has become an idyllic tourist attraction.

4. Ghost Busters – Firehouse. Bill Murray as one of three unemployed professors who set up a ghost removal service. In Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 they used the firehouse as a home base for their ghost-busting enterprise. When they filmed outside, the firehouse was one that is located in New York, but the interior is from a Los Angeles firehouse that also was used in other movies, like The Mask.

3. Star Wars – Mos Espa, Tatooine. In the middle of African Northern desert in Tunisia the set ofStar Wars was filmed. Tatooine is actually Tataouine which is a real town in Tunisia that’s located some miles south of where they filmed the movie. Today you can have a beer in the “Star Wars Bar or stay at the cave hotel that was Luke Skywalker’s home in the movie.

2. Forrest Gump – Chippewa Park in Savannah, GA. Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump was filmed at a bench in that park when waiting for the bus. He is sitting on the bench during 80% of the movie, telling his story. Now this bench is at the Savannah History Museum, but the park is still a popular place for tourists and photographers.
1. Rocky – Philadelphia Museum of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 72 steps in front of this museum is now called the “Rocky Steps” where the character Rocky Balboa, played by Sylvester Stallone, ran up those stairs to the song “Gonna Fly Now”. Today there is a bronze statue of Rocky that is a main attraction for tourists. It’s also very popular for people to run up the stairs and mimic Rocky at the top. At the top you will experience an amazing view over the Eakins Oval, the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and Philadelphia City Hall.
